Woohoo! I satisfied my detailing itch this past weekend by coating a friend's new BMW X1 and I finally got a chance to play with CQuartz UK 3.0.

After a full wash I could see there were minimal defects but the paint was rough. A one step polish would be ideal but since I only had the car for a few hours, there was only time for a decon and clay. To get the paint as clean as possible, I did an IPA wipe before doing another wipe down with Gyeon Prep.

Application was cake compared to the original CQuartz UK edition. The original formula required a slightly longer flash time and became grabby and a pain to wipe off if you waited too long. With 3.0, if you work quickly, it's possible to coat two panels and wipe down the first before moving on. Overall it was easy to work with, and it was almost enjoyable. There weren't many high spots and wipe off wasn't terrible. One tip is to use plush microfiber towels with a short nap.

I have high hopes for this coating due to its price and ease of application. We'll see how it holds up on a vehicle that's daily driven and parked outdoors. Thanks for looking!
