So decided to try something. Car is coated with CQuartz UK from last year. Did a full wash followed by iron x then foam bath. Then applied Carpro Essence gloss enhancer with a white foam pad. I had planned to top it with gliss but ran out of time, maybe next weekend.

Reasons I did this. I had noticed some grime build up on the rear bumper...aftermarket exhaust and a tune will lead to more carbon build up of course. A big reason was I was bored with just doing maintenance washes on it.

Lots of carbon!!

And after

The paint has a ridiculous gloss to it now, curious how the coating will react now, and then when I top with gliss in a week or two.

You removed the coating.

Yeah, I'm thinking Essence + white pad = CQuartz UK is gone now.

I talked to a couple certified installers and they said it'd be fine. I'm ok if it is gone, but how would I determine that with Essence laying down a coating of it own?

Are you talking about Essence (nano primer polish) or Essence Plus (coating repair/sealant)?

CarPro Essence Xtreme Gloss Enhancer 250 ml (https://www.autogeek.net/carpro-essence-xtreme.html)

Then you may have at least partially removed the CQuartz UK

You removed the coating and applied Essence Polish which does contain some SiO2 and can be used as an AIO. It won't last long or exhibit great characteristics on it's own but it will work short-term. I love essences as a polish/filler prior to coating with CQuartz. The filler helps really boost the gloss level IMO.

All said however, I am extremely disappointed in Gliss when compared to it's competition. For the effort and cost especially, it really only adds a wee-bit more hydrophobic property. It does make the surface noticablely more "slick" when washing, drying and overall, but it doesn't translate into a huge difference in self cleaning properties, etc. I've posted about this before and don't mean to be a negative Nelly on it but in today's market, products that are touted highly really need to deliver as their competition does and it's worth noting.
