I started detailing my engine covers as they were a mess...I used my Cyclo orbital buffer with white finish pads and Collonite wax...I noticed some what looked like water spots that did not come out...unfortunately in my poor judgement I grabbed 3-M compound a pad and scratched the covers or left swirl marks...how do I fix this using my Cyclo and some other products?

Is this an outboard motor or a vehicle??

3M makes great products, is this some old 3M stuff?

You'll probably need a foam cutting pad at a minimum and it sounds like a different compound.

4 Pack Cyclo Premium Yellow Cutting Pads (https://www.autogeek.net/cyclo-yellow-foam-4-pack.html)

Do you have any other products on hand?

yes was old 3M stuff and old blue microfiber pad probably didn't help...I tried the Pinnacle swirling I had, however with the white finishing pads on Cyclo helped some but not completely. Do you have a suggestion for a good product to remove salt spots and such? ? My boats hull and motors have been painted so I need to get a good product. My issue is I'm not sure by looking at paint finishes what pads or product to apply? I also have the orbital polisher and pads not sure which 3m pads to use either?

Sounds like a recipe for micro-marring to me.

Pinnacle compounds and polishes use top notch abrasive technology, I would use them on ANY black paint system in the world. The issue you had is the Cyclo white pads are SUPER soft so little to no cut no matter what you use with them.

Get some Cyclo yellow pads.

To use your Cyclo, get the Cyclo yellow foam cutting pads and some Pinnacle Advanced Compound. Follow this with whatever the Pinnacle polish you have is? You didn't say? ??????? But also get some of the Cyclo green foam pads, these are "polishing" pads. Follow the yellow with the green.

The Cyclo is an ORBITAL?

Can you be a tick more specific about what your other polisher besides the Cyclo is?

I have to pack today for the Indy class, this class takes place in less than 2 weeks, so this is a top priority. Here's what it looks like to "pack" for a REAL detailing class away from Stuart, Florida.

Packing up for the Autogeek Roadshow Class in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin - August 12th & 13th (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=http%3A%2F%2Ftinyurl.com%2Fya2ejt2j)

I'll try to peek back in on this thread sometime today.
