First off, I tried doing a search for a similar topic on all AG forums. I tried several different keywords, but couldn't find anything to answer my question(s).
I will admit that I have neglected my truck during the past winter months, i.e. no wash, wax, rinse.... nothing. I finally washed it a couple of weeks ago. It has finally stopped raining long enough for me to try to correct this problem. After washing with Meguair's, my finish has a sandpaper like texture. Is this something that a clay would get rid of or do I need to attempt to wet sand? Or is the a job for IronX? Before washing, it was exposed only to the usual road dirt, mud, etc... It stays parked under a carport at home and in an open parking lot at work. Nowhere near any trees or other overhangs. Thanks guys in advance

Get some IronX (or equiv product), use as directed. Almost certain will need to followup w/ clay or clay mitt/towel

That's exactly what clay bar is for.

Yes sir. The clay bar or equivalent is what you need... mitt... towel... synthetic clay bar... that will 'pull' the attached surface contaminants off the paint. It's wild isn't it how good it can look and still feel like sand paper... the baggie test as MP calls it will be even worse... get a baggie, put hand inside, rub along the surface of the paint and see how that feels... like the surface of a rocky planet... so yeah... clay it and you'll be good... IronX is also good but won't really take the 'surface' stuff off... but it works well on 'below surface' stuff... particles, fallout, etc... good luck and happy claying... and don't forget to use good lubricant...
