Hello there, I just picked up a CPO 2016 Ford Focus ST and I want to try to fix/correct the paint on it as best as I can. It has a good amount of paint swirl since it is used; There are a few chips on it and I was wondering what the forum thinks of Dr. Colorchip to fill in the chips. I have the following products:

RainX foaming wash
Armorall leather wipes
Armorall protectant spray
Turtlewax dry and wax
Meguiars swirl removal 2.0
Meguiars gold class wax
Meguiars scratchx
Meguiars wax cleaner
Meguiars vinyl and rubber protectant
Meguiars endurance high gloss
Mothers clay bar kit
Mothers pure polish
Mothers micro-polish glaze
3M eubbing compound
Harbor freight DA polisher
Chemical guys 5 in. backing plate
Chemical guys buffing 5.5 in. pad kit

I never used the DA polisher, its been in the box since I purchased it 3 years ago. I haven't had the time to actually really care about the paint of my vehicles until now so I'll have to read up and watch some of the videos here. Any suggestions and advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to the AutogeekOnline discussion forum :welcome:

The Dr. ColorChip repair system works great. The cool thing about it is if you don't like the way your repair looks you can use the Sealact to remove the paint and do it over again.

Here's a how-to article I wrote for their product.

As for de-swirling your new-to-you car, here's an article I wrote last year that has a TON of information and a video that shows you how to use your HF polisher.

Dr. Colorchip is a great product and easy to use. Watch the videos recommended and I'm sure you'll stumble upon many more. Treasure trove of information here.

You've got some decent products there, some things you won't need, some things that could be better, but probably enough to get you to around 70% corrected I'd guess depending upon the paint and other variables.

Hello, thanks for the response. What other products should I be looking at?

As far as paint correction, I would go with Meguiar’s D300 and apply it with Meguiar’s microfiber cutting disc. I would get some higher quality products to maintain the finish after polishing and compounding.

A lot of products but here we go...

Exterior: Meg’s Gold Class shampoo or Hyper wash followed with Meg’s D156 or McKee’s 37 Hydro Blue. The gold class wax is very nice looking but doesn’t last that long.
Interior: Meg’s D101 and Chemical Guy’s VRP/Meg’s Quik interior detailer
Glass: Meg’s Glass Cleaner concentrate or Stoner invisible glass
Wheels: Meg’s Wheel Brightener
Tires: Meg’s D108 or Meg’s Hot Rims wheel and tire cleaner. Shine: Chemical Guys VRP

You could say I’m a Meguiar’s fanboy, I don’t mind [emoji6]. Their products work well at a great cost. McKee’s 37 has excellent products but their prices are a step above Meguiar’s.
