After claying my car for the first time the paint was much smoother and I felt no grittiness with my bare hand; however, the plastic baggie test revealed that there are still plenty of surface contaminants. I’m planning to try Iron X next, followed by reclaying, but wanted to know: would it be best to strip my wax (Collinite 845) before doing further decontamination and if so what product would you recommend for this?

Also, what would you all try if Iron X/reclaying doesn’t succeed in removing the contaminants?

Do iron X and then clay.

Then just polish...It'll remove the Collinite.

I don’t have a DA yet. Is there a way to remove the wax without polishing, prior to using Iron X?

Since you don't have a DA, I'd just wait to use the IronX and re-clay the car until the 845 has worn out and the car needs to be detailed again. Enjoy the work you've already accomplished!

A good idea, but that would involve patience. Don’t know if I can do it, haha!
