Fellas
I have tried a half dozen of the top name car wash soaps and still don't seem to get very much /thick /lasting suds or foam.
Going by the directions and even have put xtra in to see if that helped any but to no avail.

My water is pretty hard and and has a pretty high ph-- like 7.8 cause I get my water from my private well that is sunk in the limestone aquifer here in west central fl.

Any one have any ideas on why the soaps aren't very sudsy??? Thought about buffering the water down with some vinegar as that will drop the ph down- about a tsp per gallon would do it, i also have a buffering solution that I use when I spray my fruit and ornamental yard plants cause the ph HAS to be below 7 (neutral) when using those types of chemicals for them to be effective------ but didnt know if that vinegar would harm the finish. Also have no idea if I can add anything to the bucket to soften the water one bucket @ a time.

Any thoughts??

•Do “suds” actually perform any
significant amount of cleaning?

•I wouldn’t be too worried if my
car-washing water was @7.8 pH.

Foam guns (that you attach to garden hoses, not pressure washers) make a ton of suds. You could buy one of those and either use that right on car and wash mitt/towels (but given your water, you might not get enough foam for it to stick to your car) or fill up a bucket using the foam gun and do a traditional two bucket wash. Based on the suds I get with a foam gun (I've only tried Optimum Car Wash), I can't imagine you wouldnt get a bucket full of satisfactory suds.

I get the most suds in the bucket from Mr Pink and McKees power wash and gloss.

If you go with a foam gun, here's a great post by someone who's done all the math so you know what setting and soap dilution to use with your foam gun to use the amount of soap per gallon that the soap label says to use.
