View Full Version : Trying to decide between Meg's D101 and Optimum Power Clean

As title states, I'm trying to decide on an APC and am considering D101 or OPC. I would like to use the product for my engine bays, tires, undercarriage and probably interior occasionally.
Is one better than the other? I know Meg's is cheaper but if OPC is a safer all around product then it may be worth the price to me as I'm only using on personal vehicles.
Thanks,
Rick

I have both. Optimum PowerClean without a doubt. Vastly better. If you are in the Boston area, I'll give you ˝gl of the Megs if you want. I won't be using it much. As a matter of fact, I just cleaned a wooden railing (after 20y of crud), OPC 1:3 took it all right off. the Megs didn't touch it.

If I was still working on my project in Waltham, I'd take you up on your offer.
It sounds like OPC works like a degreaser without being quite as harsh.

This should probably go in the 'samples' thread but the offer stands to most any Boston MetroWest AG freaks. Including samples of a wide range of product that I will never really use.

Do you happen to have any Meg's Hyperdressing? I'd throw a few bucks your way for a small sample.

No, sorry. Opti Tire Gel, GTechniq T1, 303 tire balm (on sale @ AG right now for a smokin' price)

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'm going to give Duragloss 253 a try on the tires and engine bay.

I have both and idk why I bothered to purchase megs when I already had opc. Opc works great on so many different areas of the vehicle. Maybe my favorite product.

I think I'm sold on the OPC since it has so many applications. I'm looking to consolidate products.

What dilution were you using the Megs D101?

Which areas are “unsafe” to use D101 on? Where can you safely use OPC but not D101?

I used it once, very shortly during a tag team detail to scrub a black Mercedes Benz floormatt that had somekind of spill that needed to be scrubbed & cleaned.
I didn’t bring my APC and my partner only had OPC. I didn’t see anything special, in fact I felt like D101 @10:1 would’ve cleaned the matt faster.
