I have a bottle of Chemical Guys Hose Free Rinseless Car Wash and I was wondering if that would work like ONR for a clay bar.

I haven't been able to find this info online as of yet. My next purchase will be ONR but if I purchase that now, the CG rinseless wash would probably go unused.

If I can use the CG rinseless was as a clay lube like ONR, at what dilution ratio is it ok to use?

Thank youhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180307/4663f72ad69930b9688a8abffcd7343a.jpg

First of all... welcome to AG Online!

Well I don't have any first hand experience with this product, I think you'd be o.k. using it as a clay lube. I'd go with the recommended pre-soak dilution ratio per Chemical Guys product instructions which is "16:1"

Maybe I'll try that but a little richer. If it doesn't work well, will it severely scratch the paint? I do plan on polishing after.

You should be fine. Worst case will be a little marring if you dilute it too much. Since you are polishing, no big deal.

The lube is to keep the clay from grabbing the paint and let it glide over the paint. The contaminants picked up by the clay is what will scratch the paint.I will not clay unless doing a polishing step.

Per CG_Matt @ Chemical Guys
(from a CG Q&A; ca. March 2016):

Yes it can be used as a Clay lube.

”Try using the 16:1 dilution in your sprayer
bottle, (normally used for pre-soaking heavy
dirt and debris), during a clay bar service.”
