So I was sent a bottle of the Mckees 37 FC-717 swirl remover to test out. It just so happens I got a call from my local GM performance shop Slowhawk performance. Along with doing the work on my GTO he is responsible for some of the fastest GM vehicles in the northeast.

That being said I do work for him on occasion. This time it was a blue c6 Corvette that he just finished doing a full motor, blower and fuel system build on after being in another shop for two years collecting overspray and contaminates and a bad engine build.

He asked if I could come down and just get it looking decent without going nuts.

Rinseless wash with N914.

Overspray removal with nanoskin medium grade pad, mother's speed clay and goof off graffiti remover.

I figured Mckees FC 717 would be a good choice to add some gloss and correction in one step. And it delivered great! I settled on Rupes yellow pad on my G21. I tried a green Rupes pad and it offered more correction but wasn leaving a bit of marring. The Rupes yellow pad was a good compromise. Then I sealed it with High Def Paint Sealant. Overall it was a big difference and will suffice until a full correction is done.

Nice work Justin. :props:

All things considered I think the results are pretty darn good. I haven’t done a whole lot of Corvettes but the ones I have worked on have all had paint I would put in the “hard” category, so these results are very darn good in my opinion. McKee’s 37 on to a winner here me thinks.

Haha. It's a rough job but someone has to do it!

Thanks bud. You are absolutely right about the harder clear. I was very surprised about the results too with a yellow pad non the less. But a heavier compounding step followed by a finishing polish would have really amped it up. It is hard to dial it back sometimes when budget and time are against ya.

As Aaron and you says if it's on the harder scale of hardness that is some awesome results! And on a fine cutting pad non the less! The one steps polishing on hard clearcoats would often need some pretty aggressive pads and results in the hazing you got with the green rupes pad. So the the cut seems to be a great one in the new formula from McKees! Great work!

Thanks Tom! Yeah I didn't go crazy chasing defects around the mouldings and spoiler and edges. There's definitely some room for improvement.

That's exactly my thoughts too. I couldn't see evidence of repainting which would make sense for softer paint.

So do I. It's just a factory hood with the vents Installed.

Looks pretty good and tbh very satisfying result, which IMHO are enough to not go for full correction for a very long time..
