Use a product called Aqua Buff 2000. You can get it at most Marine Supply Stores (very inexpensive). You apply it with a paint brush to a 3x3 area then mist it with water then high speed buff it off. I know it sounds weird but it works. This will take care of all the oxidation and any imperfections. You will then need to apply a good coat of wax when you are done with the aqua buff. I just did my 20' boat a few weeks ago. It came out amazing.
