I know what you all are thinking. Why am I posting a '91 Mazda? Well this on only has 30,000 miles on it! It was owned by an elderly lady. She just passed away and it now has a new owner. When the owner brought it in to have it's oil changed, the technician saw the oxidized paint (single stage). He immediately referred her to me. When I arrived at the owners home, I inspected the paint. There was a ton of oxidation. I knew I would be seeing red all day.......on my pads, towels, and hands! I brought Menzerna's APO 60 with me today to see how it would do on a bad, single stage paint. I'm so glad I did!!!

Here's the full process.......

Start time:
10:00 AM
Finish time:
1:00 PM
Payment:

Did I mention the low miles?

Wheels, tires, and wells:
The tires and wells were sprayed with Mean Green degreaser (1:1) and then the wheels with Wheel Brightener (4:1). The wheels are a lost cause but I'm going to repaint them for the owner. The tires were protected with Armor All Tire Foam.

Wash Cycle:
The exterior wash foamed with a strong concentration of Chem. Guyz Citrus Wash. It was then washed with a LC Ulti-Mitt. Drying was handled by an original Guzzler.

Paint Correction & Protection:
(Menz. APO60 via rotary & LC Blue Polishing Pad)
I was already prepared to use Meg's #83 on this paint when I remembered I had my APO60 with me. I had a fresh blue LC pad laying out so I said what the heck.......let's see what this all in one can do! Oh dear.......the results were amazing! The oxidation came off so fast, even with a soft blue pad. I did notice that I had to use more APO60 than with the Cyclo. The rotary does break it down really fast. About 2 passes worth at 1700rpm. There was basically nothing to remover either nor a trace of dust. I intentionally did not tape up any trim to see if it would stain. It didn't stain but in fact, made the trim look better. This was a true test of any all in one and now I'm totally sold on APO60.

Interior:
This was supposed to be an "exterior only" detailer but I just had to touch up the inside of this little jewel. A quick vac and protectant was all that was needed. Last was the windows.

Thanks in advance to all!!!

very nice! the results look similar to the 89 mazda mx6 that i detailed.

So you used a simple AIO with a blue pad to get these results? wow, i thought this would require something much stronger and at least an orange pad.

Oxidation is generally very easy to correct with a paint cleaner. An aggressive pad and polish really isn't good when dealing with oxidation. The best bet is to use an AIO or paint cleaner. There's a definite huge turnaround on the Mazda for only doing one step, that's for sure. Looks good.

Thanks budman!

I have realized too that it does not take an aggressive approach on oxidized paint. It's just a thin layer. It's actually easier than doing a clear coat correction my opinion. All of the defects are in the oxidation!

It's easy to do and the results are spectacular... what more could you want? Especially on one steppers.

After seeing the results on her 17 year old car, the owner must be both amazed and greatful. Great turnaround and work.

Nice Justin. I put APO60 on my list last time that you used it. Now this speeds it up.

That's a pretty impressive job for a one-stepper! Looks awesome, Justin.
Looks like another win for Menzerna!!!

The only drawback is price. 49.95 for a quart which would probably get you about 5-6 of these vehicles done. That still is only 10.00 per vehicle though. It probably saved me an hour though........which is 50.00 to me.

So why am I biotching about the price of APO 60?!?!?!

lol!

Nice work Justin! Did you even break out the #83 to compare? Not that the Menzerna did a bad job. lol Or I know you have used both now how would you compare. Besides you were finished after using the Menzerna.

Actually, #80 is one of the best polishes for oxidized single stage paint. I've used it a ton on paint like this. Once I saw what the APO60 had done, there was no reason to even try it. And like you said, I was done once I buffed off the APO. Saved an easy 45 minutes.

So you used 8 oz's for one vehicle? Seems like alot but the results speak for themselves. So how would you compare APO 60 to other AIO's?
