I recently had a great client of mine reach out to have some work done on his show car, 1968 Camaro SS.
The vehicle was in need of some heavy polishing to remove years of dry-dusting and car covers being dragged over the surfaces.

As the vehicle is used primarily for show-purposes, we polished the car and finished it in the best show-wax we have ever laid our eyes on Swissvax OBSSSSD Show Wax.

Tools Used
Rupes MK11 15
Rupes iBrid (1" & 2" pads)
Rupes LHR75

Product Used
Griots Fast Correcting Cream
Sonax 04/06
Rupes Diamond

That's not a '72...looks like a '69 to me. It does look great though. Nice work.

Correct, 72 was the 2nd gen. That’s a 69 with covered lights.

Amazing work and results! Congrats.

Yup, a 69 had slightly flattened off wheel wells at the top, the side markers were much more rectangular, front turn signals were round, "gills" right in front of the rear wheels, AND the hidden headlights for 69 were "louvered" so WHEN the headlight doors didnt work (They were controlled by vacuum and earlier cars had so many problems with them) the owner could still have some front lighting. Im not obsessed or anything LOL

AWESOME WORK MAN!!

I thought it might be a '68, that's why I said it looked like a '69 not that it was a '69. lol There weren't many '68s with those headlights were there? It's mainly the '69's that are known for those. I had a '72 Camaro, not an SS though.

67, 8, and 9 with the hidden headlights were RS option cars. The RS Option for 68 was code Z22 and there were more than 40k of them made (I had to look those facts up in my Camaro White Book)

DaveT435 - The 70 1/2 and the 72 were basically identical. The split bumper (Ironically the same Z22 RS package) was an option for either year too. One fact most miss when they cut their full bumper trying to make it look like an RS is that with a real split bumper the turn signals are round and above the bumper as in your pic, the full bumper cars got rectangle turn siglnals below the bumper. When I see a split bumper with the rectangle signals it just screams out at me. Hope I dont bore you all with Camaro facts. lol

Looks great! I have a 67 SS/RS myself. Easy way to tell that's a 68: it has the fully black headlight covers (they switched to a different pattern in 69), and it's not a 67 since those have two extra little windows that pop open right in front of the passenger and driver front windows. Just FYI ; )

Anyways, actual question I wanted to ask: did you wash it down with a hose / 2BM? I haven't don't so on my 67 because I'm afraid to get water everywhere and introducing an opportunity for rust. Curious what your approach was?

Thanks!
