Polishing vintage original single stage paint

At a recent car show the owner of a 1957 Chevy 210, Arnaldo San Martin, came up to me and told me he loved our TV show, Competition Ready. He then asked me to look at the paint on his car. He told me that approximately 85% of the paint on his car was the original factory paint and that he was finding it very difficult to polish and wax. After inspecting his car I told him if he would bring the car to Autogeek in Stuart, Florida I would be happy to show him how to make polishing the original paint easy as well as try to work out some of the few remaining swirls.

Here's Arnaldo's 1957 Chevy 210

In this class you will learn,

How to use a waterless wash
How to correctly use detailing clay
Light machine polishing to remove swirls and oxidation
Hand polishing with Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze
Applying a true show car quality Carnauba Paste Wax

Long drive on bad roads
The owner lives in Lakeland, Florida, which is about 150 miles away and portions of the road are under construction making it a hazardous as well as uncomfortable drive to Stuart in this type of car. I appreciate his passion for the car hobby and his tenacity to seek out help in working on his car's original paint and for these reasons, we here at Autogeek are more than happy to open up our garage not only to help him with his car project but to also welcome other car enthusiast that are interested in learning the art of polishing paint.

***Update***

We are holding our monthly Cars & Coffee car show on this date.

No problems though - we'll simply start on the 1957 Chevy project AFTER our Cars & Coffee car show is over at 10:00am

This class is coming up fast!

The owner of this car is driving it here from Orlando, Florida. This is an exceptional time-capsule example of a 1957 Chevy with 85% of the original black paint still intact.

We will be going over,

Waterless wash
Detailing Clay
Light machine polishing to remove swirls and oxidation
Hand polishing with Meguiar's #7 Show Car Glaze
Applying a true show car quality Carnauba Paste Wax

Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to work on original single stage paint.

Spoiler alert... just buy some HD Speed and HD Polish+

I'm just kidding. I wish I could make it out to sunny Stuart Florida to pick up some tips from the master.

HD Speed would actually be more than enough and in my experience with the product it would probably do a very good job and be one of the fastest, simplest ways to tackle this car.

Not exactly sure what products I'm going to use at this time but they will be UBER safe as my guess is the paint on this car is going to be very THIN in a lot of places.

That's one of the things I'll cover in this class - being super careful when working on old/antique/original paint. I have an article on this topic here,

Whisper Thin Paint on Classic Cars by Mike Phillips - Be Careful! (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/ask-mike-phillips-your-detailing-questions/104788-whisper-thin-paint-classic-cars-mike-phillips-careful.html)

The picture in the above article (plus the words), tell the whole story.
