Looking for everyone's opinion on dedicated leather cleaners.

Preferably something that can be bought in bulk quantities.

Currently looking into meguiars d181, anyone have experience with it? All opinions welcome!

I think it first depends on how bad the leather is.

I've been using Mckees 37 Leather shampoo 70/30. It cleans far better than I thought it would. It's also just so fun and easy to use. Has a bit of a strong leather odor which can bother some, but it dissipates. It's not cheap though...like $47/gallon I think, so I only buy on a good sale. I haven't tried D181, curious too as to how well it cleans.

I like the McKee's 37 products. The All in One Leather Lotion is fantastic, the 70/30 Shampoo has great cleaning properties, and the UV50 leaves a awesome feel. Not slippery at all. Sorry I have no experience with D181.

I’m also enjoyed my the McKee’s leather shampoo as well. Love the smell it leaves behind and many of my customers do as well.

I use Meguiars D181. I like it enough to be on my 2nd gallon of it.. It's similar to Meguiars D101 APC @10:1, but there's very slight differences.

D181 cleans better than D101@10:1.
D181 doesn't leave that slight tacky feeling that D101 can sometimes leave behind on coated leather seats. [however that tacky feeling goes away rather quikly]
Both have scents that aren't overpowering nor do they smell like cheap fake leather... Instead they have a simple clean scent that dissipates quikly, within an hour or 2 any light scent is pretty much gone, which IMO beats fake leather any day.

Here's an equal side by side test I did between the 2. Difference in cleaning power goes to D181. But there's not a World of difference between the 2.

D181 is great.

I wrote a review long ago on it.

AVOID CG Sprayable Leather. It's the worst. Slick, shiny, and squeaky..

Great comparison! Id considered using my d101 but i was a bit hesitant as it always seems to take some dye even at low concentration.

Some good insight, thank you! Just ordered some for myself. Should be able to test it on a bmw 330ci later next week.

IME it doesn’t play very well with the fake leather in late model Mercedes Benz. I think it’s due to the dry coarse texture of those seats. It winds up feeling a lot like trying to shave your beard straight dry. I say this because I know that BMW fake leather is very similar. Just a heads up in case you don’t get the best 1st impression from it.

I reach for D180 when cleaning German pleather interiors. It’s a shame so many aren’t actually equipped with real leather... Spend $60,000+ on the car and don’t spend the extra $2,000 for real leather seats. If I was buying the car that would be #1 on the list of options I’m making sure to get. [emoji4]

Your going to want to check out the 303 3 in 1 leather cleaner and it is available in bulk as well. Great product from a great company, American made too [emoji631]
