Bug removal

Hi can anyone recommend a easy minimum scrub bug removal OTC chemical. I have a massive job to do and the front on this truck is nasty. Usually it's APC and bug spounge and lots of scrubbing, but this truck is energy draining so I'm looking for ways to save time and energy. Any help would be nice.

What about acetone?

while i have never used it, turtle wax has a power foam bug & tar remover that comes in an aerosol can that might do the trick. tarminator as well...

I've never used acetone on my truck, Steve. So I cannot comment on it.

But I have used 3M adhesive remover on some pretty nasty stuff around the bottom of the truck. Works wonders.

Can't comment on it's use for bug splatter, as I always remove those ASAP on my truck, but I would guess it's worth a shot.

There is an enzymatic bug remover that works really well. You can find it on Amazon. I found out about it on an RV forum.

I "experimented" a few months back and found that a cap full of liquid fabric softener mixed in a spray bottle with a "bug cleaning" windshield washer fluid (or water) makes very short work of both bugs and dried bird poo. On my car anyway it didn't affect the LSP (UFF) at all. Just let is soak a few minutes while you clean something else - I do the tires then go back to the bugs/bird poo.

BUT some have suggested that since these are not automotive (paint) specific products that they could cause staining, so Use At your Own Risk.

OTC? Glass cleaner honestly works pretty well. Many parts stores sell a bug sponge of sorts too. Fabric softener works. A sheet or the liquid. Griot’s has big stuff in some of the stores that isn’t terrible either. Poorboys is good if you can order and there mesh towels are outstanding for big removal

You can also take a large drying towel or even a bath towel *gasp* and get it soaked in rinseless wash solution and lay it over as much area as possible to let it soak into the bugs for a while.

Keep in mind you will need to do your normal washing and re apply your LSP of choice on the area when done because it will likely be compromised

Thanks very much for all your help.
Side note : My go to when energy permits is bug sponge and super degreaser fantastic results but A LOT of scrubbing, ( Paul A gets the credit for that) I am looking to minimize the scrubbing due to the size of this truck.

That's why I like the fabric softener option, give it a few minutes to soak, and the bugs/bird poo rinse off with a strong stream of water. PERSONALLY I don't see how limited-short term use would be harmful to the paint, but what do I know?
