I picked up some 5" Hybrid Power Finish pads on BOGO and they need a 4" backing plate. I tried my 3" but the pads flex too much on such a small backing plate. Any suggestions for finding a 4" backing plate for a GG6? I have seen a few DA 3 1/2" backing plates, but no DA 4". I might have to do a 4" rotary backing plate with an adapter.

Thanks!

I know there is a 4" rotary backing plate. You can get an adapter. I think that pad was kind of designed for the 3401 and their 4" backing plate.

Most 5" backing plates are just under 5" (4 7/8").

Dave is right about the 4" bp for the 3401. You might be better off with 5" pads as they are a standard size.

I don't blame you if you have a lot of pads. I just don't trust those adapters.

It's not that, it's the 3/16" shaft.

I use this 3.5 BP" (https://www.autogeek.net/lc-43085da.html) with 4" pads. Works fine.

They pad is actually about 5 inches, the Velcro is 4 inches and they're really thick. They won't work on a 3.5.

It's not the ideal setup, you need to be careful not to let a lot of heat build up. You're moving the bad out from the machine. How many of the pads did you buy?? There is a thread on here to trade products. I saw someone trying to trade some 5.5" CCS pads on there the other day. A lot of 3401 users so that might be a good thing to try first.

Not a good ROI. Probably best to cut my losses and find something that is better suited.

I have 2 finishing pads, 2 polishing pads and 4 light cutting pads. One polishing and one light cutting used for less than 10 minutes.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171020/9ecf97a030cdd2923d8f6a75b6fb1331.jpg

Here is the thread. You may want to look through the last few days and see if there are any pads you might be able to trade for and go ahead and make that post there and list you want to trade for 5.5" pads

I know a lot of people really like the light cutting pads. You might want to clean that one up a little, or is that stain?

It was used on a single stage. It's just stained, clean, but stained.
