Guys I can't seem to avoid getting swirl marks (spider web shaped scratches when the light hits the finish). I've washed and dried with micro fiber cloth and down toughness car wash and everything. I've clay barred the car down and used my DA with meguiars ultimate compound and waxed with Meguiars paste. I can see the marks reappear before I've even washed it again. Should I use a ceramic base wax or what?

Either you're not removing the swirls when you compound or you're reintroducing new marks by your washing/drying. Try using a drying aid (quick detailer, spray wax) as you dry or use air to dry your vehicle instead of a waffle weave towel. Ceramic coating will have minimal swirl resistance if your washing technique is lacking somewhat

I have tried using my air compressor then finishing anything I miss with a quick mist spray. I feel like I may not be fully removing the swirls as you mentioned and more so masking them.

Quite possible, which paste wax are you using? I know the Gold Class will fill/cover minor swirls

The Ultimate paste. I miss my old rotary polisher. I hate the DA

It's all in the polishing. Go on Utube a lot of good vids on polishing. The Junkman has some good vids. If you search here, Mike P does a good job on polishing with a DA.

UC on soft paint could mean you're putting those marks in with the DA.

It's a 2014 Mustang GT. Factory paint. Using a Griots DA with orange correcting pad
