I've been wanting to compare some sealants. I got a few additional ones from the samples thread. This is a combination of sealants and spray waxes. I don't expect the waxes to last as long, but wanted to see a relative comparison.

The first car got some spray-on-wipe off waxes and sealants applied about 2 weeks ago. I'll try to get an update tomorrow to check the water action. Hood was compounded, polished, and wiped down with Gyeon Prep twice (Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Compound).

2nd car was done today with several sealants. It was polished with UC and then wiped down twice with Gyeon Prep.

This picture shows what I used. Essence and Essence+ shown in the bottom middle were not used.

I know DG 105 is an AIO. I had more slots than products so used it just to see how it compares.

Everything was applied per instructions with a single coat. These will all get at least 18 hours cure time out of the weather. I likely over-applied OptiSeal and Paint Guard Plus based on residual residue. I may reapply these in a couple of days. Also will apply another sealant to the empty spot in front if I get another one to try.

Where I used DG 601 I put down a coat of it first and applied the sealant without removing it. I prefer to mix it 601 into the sealant rather than applying it first, but hard to do with quantities this small.

Application experience for all of these was good. They're all easy to apply. Should be no surprise the FK was the hardest to remove, but not difficult at all. Collinite was next - also fairly easy. All the others are very easy to remove, Sonüs Ion being the easiest. Paint Guard Plus and OptiSeal don't require any removal.

All products used on both hoods (17 total):

Blackfire Polymer Spray
Carpro Reload
Collinite 845
DG Aquawax
DG 105
DG 111
DG Track Claw
Finish Kare 1000*
Mystery sealant (not sold on AG)
Optimum Spray Wax
Optimum Optiseal
Polish Angel Cosmic Spritz
Sonax Poylmer Net Shield
Sonüs Acrylic Spritz
Sonüs Ion
Ultima Paint Guard Plus
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Sealant

Red - Spray-on-wipe-off or wipe-on-wipe-off
Blue - Apply, wait, wipe off or buff off
Black - Apply and walk away (no wipe off)

*FK 1000 applies like a paste wax rather than a liquid. The application isn't any more difficult.

Where is the cost info? I didn't any because it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. How much you pay per oz is not relevant. How much it costs to cover an average sized car is a better metric. I don't have that info. If possible I'll cover a couple of panels with each to try and get a sense of cost per panel.

Be sure to read the other sealant comparison (https://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-101/115947-sealant-showdown.html) taking place concurrently.

really want to see how polish angel holds up, its been on my wish list for sometimes but its so expensive. what type of daily conditions will this car be in Rippy?

Keep in mind this is the spray only, not the coating. Cosmic coating did not have good durability for me. (I believe it's like Ion - coating in name only.) Car is a daily driver, outside most of the time, and will get almost constant rain for 6 months starting in a couple of weeks.

FK + 601 recommended by FUNX650 (aka Bob). Track Claw is another sealant from DG. Those guys have great products and terrible marketing. I tried it with some coatings earlier this year. It's been going for about 10 months. Will see how it compares this time. Applies like other non-spray sealants. Very slick after it's wiped off. I'll check them tonight when i get home for the finger slickness test (after washing, of course).

First update. Reminder that the Sentra hood got done a little over 2 weeks ago. It's been outside 24x7 and gotten rained on for 3-4 days. Been washed twice since I applied them with N-914 and rinseless dilution. The time between pics is a second or two. The bottom 3 sections at the bottom of the pic are shedding water like crazy.

So far Opt Spray Wax, Polish Angel, and Reload are doing great. Aquawax is just a little behind the others. Sonus Acrylic is trying, but not going to make it. Blackfire is done. I could reapply and give it another chance, but I think I'll try another spray wax or QD there. This is pretty consistent with what I've experienced with it before (sorry AG).

Did a reality check on the Land Rover hood even though the sealants are only a day old. The car got rained on today, so no harm from the hose.

They're all doing what you would expect: water is flying off the hood except for the untreated area at front center. Also looks like I missed a spot when applying the Mystery Sealant based on the water accumulating right near the windshield sprayer. I'll note that and will account for it going forward.

Score so far: Blackfire is out and Sonus Spritz is heading that way.
