So I just bought a used boat, the hull of the boat is black. The previous owner has always compound and waxed the hull, from a distance it looks really good but when up close in different spots of the boat you notice thousands of little white specs in the black gel coat. So I have done some research on this and apparently its little pours in the gel coat that are filled with white wax, and its pretty noticeable on a black hull. Does anyone have any experience with this or seen this? What I was thinking is if this is true and it is the white wax filling in the pours is there any such thing as a black wax out there for fiberglass, that way it fills in black and isn't so noticeable.
Here is a pic.
Thanks

Have you tried a clay bar?
