Hi all,

I use a containment mat when detailing a vehicle. To suction the water/dirt out of the mat, I use a Shop Vac with a built-in water pump. The vac (once the water level reaches 4") then pumps the waste to a waste tank.

My trouble is with the Shop Vac and the foam from a foam canon... the shop vac does not handle the foam very well and just spits it out the exhaust, making a mess. Plus, I have to pinch the host in order to get the flow going from the shop vac into the waste tank.

What I am looking for is a type of pump (ac power/110) where I can connect a vacuum hose to one end (intake) and the other to a waste tank (output). The pump must be able to simply pass the water/dirt thru on into the waste tank and also be tolerable to running dry.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Harbor freight fresh water pump will do the job for cheap. It is not self priming though .

OK, thank you. Shame the Shop Vac has such a hard time with the soap suds.
