Dear Forum Members,

I am not so sure how much "shine" this post constitutes, maybe just more "show" (e.g. before and after). This SUV belongs to the son of my Mom's best friend. He has 4 kids (need I say more). Well my Mom's friend called me last week and said her son was giving the Jeep to his daughter this Monday for her 17th birthday and it needed a little cleaning. I said I'd be happy to help. So she brings the Jeep over last night so I could get a 6 am start on it today. I actually pre-treated the interior last night and despite that, I lost sleep over this one. Almost speechless at the condition of the interior - which took a solid 5 hours to clean with every product and tool I own, and exterior was another 4. The car was almost uninhabitable if you ask me :-)

Well here is the hard part -> she is my Mom's best friend and she saved my Mom's life 20 years ago. One summer day while at the town pool, my Mom said she was tired and went home to sleep. 10 mins. later her friend said "Something is wrong, I am going to check on her." The friend walks into my Mom's house in the middle of a heart attack. Had it not been for her intuition, and her effort to go over, my Mom wouldn't be here. So when she asked me how much she owed me, I told her this one is on me. Of course she wasn't having it. Well she comes to pick up the Jeep tomorrow morning and for sure she is going to throw $ at me. I don't want to get into an argument with her, so perhaps I just take a few bucks to cover the expense of the products used. Does that seem fair enough?

Here are the products used:

- McKee's Powerwash car soap (man do I love this stuff). Washed twice.
- Meguire's Clay bar and detail spray
- Pinnacle XMT2 (discontinued) polish using Griot's BOSS white pad (XMT2 slightly more aggressive than 360)
- McKee's 360 (protection layer) using LC red finishing pad
- Griots GG6
- McKee's 37 Vinyl and Trim Protectant
- McKee's 37 APC (for seats, doors and carpets). Thank God for this stuff - and I used A LOT of it!!! Wonderful product!
- McKees Glass Restore Polish
- Griot's Long last Tire Shine
- Enough Pads to choke a horse (LC ThinPro's)
- Every brush and tool I own

Hopefully the vehicle is now presentable as a gift to the daughter.

Thanks for looking guys and gals,
ScottH

Maybe tell her that you enjoyed cleaning the Jeep, one good turn deserves another, and please pay it forward when the opportunity presents itself?
