View Full Version : MT300 or Griots Garage 6 for polishing glass and removing scratches?

I'm looking to polish a few windshields (my own) and truth be told, an aquarium, to remove some scratches and etchings. I've narrowed my choice of DA orbital polisher to the two above. Can you recommend one over the other?

I like the ergonomics of the MT300 and the torque management, but early reviews (from two years ago) talked about an issue with the power cord and general breaking within a short time (after 10-20 cars worth of polishing). However, I can't find any more recent reviews. Several reviews also suggest it is one of the smoother and possibly quieter DA on the market at this price point.

The GG6 has a great reputation and warranty but the ergonomics aren't as good. It might also be not quite as smooth as the MT300.

I would likely buy a 3" backing plate and pads in addition to the normal 6" ones so I can get into smaller areas, especially on the fish tank.

Can you provide any guidance?

For what it's worth...

As a guy that probably has more articles on polishing glass and polishing anything with multiple Polishers...

I'd recommend the Griots 6" DA Polisher and the Ceriglass "system" which is their polish and their pads.

In one of my glass polishing articles I strongly recommend using a system of one exists to reduce the potential for problems.

That portion was written from experience.
