What is the best method for measuring paint on fiberglass cars?!? I've ran into this issue a few times in my detailing career and have been able to find metal doors or the fuel door to be metal and achieve measurements... but then again it's an educated risk. One vehicle in particular I have coming up is a 1978 Chevrolet Corvette with 29 miles on it. All original paint, but it's full a scratches and swirls from uneducated people wiping it down in a museum. This is a fiberglass car which doesn't allow for paint measurements.

Ultrasonic Coating Thickness Gauges
does allow for paints'/coatings' thickness
measurements over a variety of sub-
strates, such as: composites, Fiberglas,
plastics, metals, and many more.

Bob - do you have experience using such gauge? Do you have one you recommend?

Do you have one you recommend?

•Mainly, the ones from Elcometer.
(Defelsko---upon Customer's request.)

•I'll recommend the ones from
either Elcometer; and/or Defelsko:

Or: you can always rent one.
