I have husky liners in my truck and I clean them with APC then dress them with tire shine. I don't know what type of rubber mats you have but this works great for me.

I too use tire shine, or PB Natural Look

For cleaning you might as well just use some car soap. For protection Id make sure you use something that wont make the surface slippery. Something like 1Z cockpit premium would probably work well.

I have used 303 Cleaner 20:1, brush to agitate, MF to wipe, and then follow with 303 Protectant.
Recently, there was a detail posted using a degreaser and tire foam.

Had to come back with another post. The next thread that I read Dust2Glory had posted a detail where he did rubber matts. They look great. Here's the link if you don't find D2G Detail: 2006 VW.. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/11428-d2g-detail-2006-vw-passat-2-0-t.html

I have 1Z Cockpit Premium. I absolutely love that stuff. Not sure I would use on floor mats, since I'm very frugal about my 1Z I don't want it to run out too quick! lol! :D

True. But we know where we can get it in 2.6 gallons at a good price. But it probably is one of the safest things to use on the mats since it wont make them slippery.

make sure what ever you add to the mat does not make it slippery. could be dangerous for the driver trying to brake.
