Has anyone used the Flex 603 rotary? Any thought's about this machine, i think i read that the low end speed is 1000 rpm's but i like the fact that it won't bogg down if you apply alittle pressure. And will the edge 2000 pad system work with it. it has a 5/8ths thread i think. I looked for some posts about this machine with no luck.
well thanks in advance.
Feed back please

or just say hi:D

The Flex rotary is basically the same as the Porter Cable 7428(which Flex made) with the exception of maybe a new power feature or 2. Which I own and yes the edge system does work .It has the standard rotary threading.

Dust2 Glory did a review on this forum just a day or so ago.

check it out http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/auto-detailing-forum/11180-d2g-review-flex-xc-3401-a.html

That review is not on the Rotary Flex, which is what he was asking about. Just FYI, I did not want anyone to confuse the two Flex machines.

No problem thanks for the input, do you think that the bottom limit of 1000 rpm's will be an issue, in your opinion.

thanks rwisejr, i just used a buddy's hf rotary that was fun, but i only had a wool and a 50ppi, and 30ppi foams, so the correction on my wife's mazda 626 is not perfect but what a diff. I figured out how to put in swirls and take them out. i used some relabeled compound and megs 3stage so my hopes were not to high to begin with. I'm just waiting for the wax to set up.

what products do you use with your makita, i see your merc. is sweet, but what would you use for correction, and what for maintence.
any help is appreciated.

Wool is used mostly for cutting. Foam for finishing . I also use the Menzerna Polishes SIP and 106FF

well i did use the wool for cutting but i didn't stay in an area to long, and the compound that i used is kind of new to me, but it's suppose to start off at 1500 grit and brake down to 5000 grit, the pad did cake a little about the size of a quarter in the middle but i tried to clean it off when i noticed it.
hey man thanks. i'm going to go see if the wax set up. http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/images/icons/icon7.gif

Yes you want to keep it moving and depending on the product you should spur the pad to keep it from caking up

I have the Makita and have used a Dewalt, I personally like the Makita better, I like the slow 600 rpm speed especially starting off spreading compound or polish. Hey, I finnally tried the side handle instead of loop one, guess what - I like it better.

I've been looking more and more toward the makita! I used a h-f on the hood of the wife's car. I liked the way it worked even though the pads a product are ?. Plus the hood has so many rock chips it's gonna need sprayed or a ton of touch ups.
