Hey all,

Curious to know what Brand and Type (GSM thickness) of microfiber towels everyone uses?

These are what I have:
(majority) 80/20 300gsm all purpose -- generic brand
(2) 80/20 ??gsm glass cleaning -- generic brand
(5) 70/30 350gsm extra thick -- chemical guys
(3) 70/30 450gms ultra soft -- chemical guys (happy ending)
(1) 75/25 600gsm buff -- wolfgang

If you guys are Detail Spraying... which type of microfiber do you use?
Ultra soft/thick?

For waterless washes that has more dirt/grime... is it better to use generic low-pile or high-pile microfiber?

Has anyone used The Rag Company brand towels?

TRC is the brand I use most.
I dont really pay attention to 80/20s so I have mostly 70/30 and anywhere from 245-365 GSM.

TRC as well. They are years old and still perform like new. Never any shedding or linking. The eagle edgeless are all I use for things other than drying. I've simply not found a better value in terms of the quality you get for the money. I do however use the GG pfm drying towels for drying only

These are my favorite towels. I like them better than the gray 520's and the purple 600's.

I agree. I have 245 chinese edgeless towels that have been washed 50+ times and are still really soft.

the 365 edgeless is a great bulk option for a paint safe, quality towel, that is well rounded and can be used for any purpose.

I've never had any linting with the 245, 300, or 365 edgeless TRC chinese towels

I really like the Gold Plush Jr's too. They're extremely versatile as mentioned above. Also love my Griot's Garage PFM drying towel, it's the best I've ever used. The rest of my MF towels are low GSM generic brand that I use for interiors and doorjams and such.

they're not to overly plush and not to thin, just right in between. over many many years i have spent a lot of money on microfiber and you don't need a bunch of microfiber towels for every little thing. also, laundering and drying them correctly is key to having them last a long time. if one does that you'll be set for a good while...

I have a combination of Autogeek Cobras, Gold plush jr.'s, and several TRC towels such as Eagle edgeless, 365 edgeless, and pluffles for drying.

Same for me.

I like 800 GSM for rinseless wash and detail spray wiping.

I like 480 GSm for polish removal.

What microfiber are you folks using to remove compounds? I found really thin knap required for the compounds I've used (m105 and Griot's fast correcting creme). The Texas heat doesn't help either removal.

Really, I found the thicker towels would not remove the stubborn residue. For polish removal they worked ok.
