View Full Version : Tired of Meguiar's wheel brightener killing my sprayers

Ok, so I love the stuff. Wheel Brightener makes cleaning mags so easy it a no brainer to use it.

On the other hand, it keeps killing my sprayers and I am sick of it. This week it killed 3 of them. On my last detail, sprayer would not work when I started doing the wheels so I installed a brand new one on the bottle. Did the first 3 wheels no problem and by the 4th wheel the sprayer was dead. I use chemical resistant sprayers from a local janitorial store, but they are clearly not resistant to acids. So I need to find something that will last.

Any suggestions?

Try this.

If you're like me, you've tried using chemical resistant and even acid resistant sprayers only to have them fail rather quickly...

If you're looking for an acid resistant sprayer that stands the test of time, this is all you need.

Simply use your tiger grip to remove the sprayer from the consumer bottle, and put it on your bottle of Wheel Brightener [or other acid based cleaner]

Now you'll have a sprayer that'll easily last a year or more... It's no surprise that the most resistant sprayer of all would be on the consumer bottle, because if it wasn't they'd have to refund too many due to faulty sprayers.

Hum... the first acid wheel cleaner I used was Hot Rims and the sprayer failed before the bottle was used up. Don't think it was the Chrome one though, so maybe the sprayer is different.

After every use I pump water through it using a old water bottle will last for years.

These sprayers didn't hold up very long for me with Megs WB.

The gold & black acid resistant sprayers have held up better for me.

I have used these with bleach and it has stopped working after sitting stagnate.

I didn't give in and took it apart. I lubed the black plunger under the trigger with silicone/PTFE grease and all was well.

This. It's really the only way. I've used all kinds of sprayer heads, even the acid resistant, and they all eventually failed. As soon as I got into the habit of just unscrewing the sprayer head and flushing it with water from my wash bucket or ONR, I never have that problem. It just takes a moment.
