Hi guys!

Today I present a video in which I give detailed instructions, A to Z, on how to prepare your car's paint for a ceramic coating and how to properly apply a ceramic coating.

For the purpose of this video, I used my own BMW 435i xDrive Gran Coupe M Sport edition.

Easy to follow steps. Enjoy the video!

That's a great tutorial...appreciate you adding it, as I've been considering this for my new car.

A couple of questions, though, after viewing the video:

1. Should all plastic be avoided when applying the coating? I didn't see any sign of tape on your car, and am wondering if you applied the product to the head/tail lights, etc.
2. I also couldn't tell if you applied it to the wheels or not?
3. Do you have any details available on the IPA step to rid the paint of any polishing oils? Are there ready to use products out there, or do you just dilute any iso alcohol to a particular strength?

Again...thanks!

Thanks for the comment!

To answer your questions... You can apply coatings to trims, there are some specifically formulated for those (that are more elastic in nature, and can expand and contract). Same goes for the wheels. Pretty much all the companies make specific wheel coatings (CarPro, GTechniq, Gyeon, Pinnacle Black Series, etc). They resist super high temperatures. There are coatings for leather, fabric, glass, etc. You can get general coatings like Gyeon CanCoat or Pinnacle Black Series Diamond Surface Coating that can be applied to many surfaces.

For the IPA wipedown, I like using CarPro Eraser or Gyeon Prep which are premixed for you. If not, you can make your own mix by using 50/50 distilled water and isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol found at the pharmacy or big box store).

Hope this helps!

Nice video, but by the time I get a power washer, foam cannon, $400 polisher and spend a day or two, I might be better off getting one of the Pro's on Auto Geek to do the job.:dblthumb2:
