I'm new to detailing and am having trouble with black paint on my Altima. I've clayed, Menz 400'd and 3500'd it, but no sealant yet. I did a quick ONR wash and noticed slight scratches from my drying of the ONR. (not the application of it). I'm using high quality towels (Rag Company Eagle Edgeless) Is the paint THAT soft or am I doing something wrong? What can I do different?

IMO without the protection of the lsp aka sealant, the paint is more vulnerable to micro scratches which you're experiencing.

I did a Black 2013 Altima a few years ago with HD Polish and had a 2009 in White and now have a 2016 in white along with my white 2015 Rogue. I've found the paint easy to correct in one step.

This was our 2009 after a one step with HD polish / G21 LC Orange pad. This had never been polished in it's lifetime before this.

It was easy to correct, but my concern is having to do it again. Perhaps I'll need to forego the rinseless wash and do conventional wash as I do have a Master Blaster blower

Why not just apply sealant and possibly avoid the swirls altogether?

:iagree:

Why bother with correcting w/o putting some form of LSP on it afterwards?

Sorry I was not clear in my post. I had put on Wolfgang 3.0 on half my hood as a test, but slight scratches showed there too. I don't have the time to complete all the detailing in on session, so do it as piece work. I'm doing the LSP tonight.
