I've been out of detailing for quite a while only to come back and see lots of new products.
I 'm trying to avoid products that use a lot of filler. It's frustrating polishing your car only to find out that you didn't really fix the issue only band-aid the problem with fillers. What products use a lot of fillers, or better yet which product do you recommend for light swirl removal that doesn't use fillers? Thank you

There are quite a few Brands that
offer abrasive products that can be
used for light swirl removal, that are
also said to contain no fillers. Here's
a good starting point: Search (http://autogeek.commerce-search.net/search?catalog=autogeek&keywords=Polishes+without+fillers)

Autopia's Polish Comparison Chart is a great resource.

Every single polish you use will fill to some degree. Some have more durable fillers than others.

If you buy something off this site they will usually say if the product contains fillers. any particular product you have in mind?

The 3D HD Speed polish, just curious to know if that has a lot of filler?

On the chart, polishes listed in black have no fillers.

The 3D HD Speed polish,

has a lot of filler?
Are there a lot of "Fillers"
in HD Speed?

***********************************

A (now former) 3D/HD Rep. has
commented on this many times.
Here are a few of those comments:

•HD Speed is a combination
of HD Polish and HD Poxy.

•HD Speed do not fill in the sense
of masking or hiding defects. What
it does is add extra gloss due to the
wax content in it.

*************************************

However...
When asked if HD Poxy has a good
filling ability the same Rep. said Yes;
and, it does a wonderful job of filling
and covering light haze and cobwebbing.

**********************************

I've tried my best to parse my way
through this Rep.'s comments; and,
I'm left with the following results:

•HD Poxy has "Fillers";
-but, somehow, HD Speed (which contains
HD Poxy) does not have "Fillers".
Huh....Whaaat?!?!

•Marketing malarkey; marketing malaise;
unadulterated artifice?

**********************************

HD Speed/"Fillers": You be the judge.

Any polish that has wax in it is going to have natural fillers.

Wax naturally fills. So it's impossible to have a all in one that doesn't have any filling capabilities. Due to that wax

HOWEVER people I feel over state the abilities of these "fillers" there is no magic product to cover and hide swirl marks and scratches.

Using a product that was actually designed to fill can only fill so much.

Fillers are more of a concern with light micro marring. That is where you can really get tricked.

If a customer pulled in my shop with a swirled out mess and said I'll give you 1 million dollars to fill all of this, I would not be able to. Using a glaze would only feel the extra light swirls.

The fillers will fill the scratches and swirls where that void of the paint is missing. So naturally it is going to reflect more.

You can get tricked with oily smudgy polishes, the residue can mask and hide some damage.

IMO:
Seems incongruous with the
rest of your above post (#9).

150% agreed. You are right on!! :dblthumb2::dblthumb2::dblthumb2::dblthumb2:

As stated above, I have NEVER used a polish that doesn't fill micro-marring. Some to a greater extent than others. I ALWAYS use a panel wipe on my test spot.

Their description list is as a Glaze... so it probably contains a lot more fillers than other products in it's categorie.

I've used Speed many times and there is nothing "filling" besides whatever Poxy might be doing. Speed is in fact correcting and leaving a finish that rivals any other polish. I believe this has been proven many times on here and you could also IPA/Eraser wipe and find out for yourself.

No, speed does fill a lots, and with my country climate that usual wax can not live more than 2 weeks is the proved of that. When I first use of speed, I feel amaze. But once customers return after 2 weeks of heavy rainstorms, the truth been reveal. You can look at autopia chart and seeing Speed correction ability is only 2, which is very low compare to other polish, it's just good at hiding, it will not remove 2000 or even 2500 grit sanding. If it is very light swril, yes.

If you want a true one step correction Rupes UHS is good to go, and if you want AIO with some real correction ability, Menzerna 3 in 1 is also good choice. However, if you want something like a temporary bandage Speed would be great.

Well heck, you should've sent that customer my way... I could use 1 million dollars :)

This is what my hood looked like the day I picked it from the junkyard.

I think this easily qualifies as a "swirled out mess"
Actually, this is as severe as defects can get.

Right about that time I had just got back into detailing and had just bought my 1st DA polisher... I picked up some Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze since it was among the very few polishes I could find locally at HF.

And holy fillers. Look at what I was able to make it do... On clearcoat! Yes even though everybody always says it sucks arse when used on clearcoat...

50/50 Shot. Nothing but Show Car Glaze.

No faking the funk. Direct sun shot. The paint looked absolutely flawless once I was done! Filled to perfection.

Here's the other half of the hood.

Not too bad for a noob using my polisher for the 1st time with a product that's supposedly worthless on clearcoated paint :)

Where's my million dollars? :)
