Good day all,
spent about 30 minutes trying to search for this topic but everything mostly dealt with aluminum wheels and the sort. Was hoping for some advise on removing the swirls from my rims. Was out there for a bit giving it a go and got some of it out but I feel it could be better. I don't know that I'm looking for 100% swirl free rims but I don't want to look down a them and go dang those are a mess either. Planning on using Hydro Blue on them when I get them looking pretty decent. Should probably coat them but I haven't used a coating before and really don't think these rims would be a place to learn either. So...
Process so far was:
Wash the wheel and barrel
Iron X
Clayed
Started out with Menzerna SF4000 and yellow pad
- it did ok but for the amount of time spent getting it there I feel it could go a bit quicker...so....
- switch to a cyan hydrotech hand polishing pad. helped remove it a bit quicker but still wanted it better
Switched to Menzerna FG400 with a cyan hydrotech hand polishing pad. starting to get where I could be sort of happy and a long ways from where I started.
- side to side and up and down motions with the pad.
Stopped at that point to post this...maybe I should just keep chugging along with the FG400 or try something different? At the rate this is going....I might be done polishing them by tomorrow morning.
huge thank you for your input on this....
