Hi all, the two coats of Optimum Gloss Coat on my weekend car are about 18 months old. Still beading pretty well. Car has only seen 5k miles in the last 18 months.

If I want to apply two more coats of Gloss Coat this week, should I polish / strip off the old coats first, or can I simply do a wipe down with Eraser? I used Ironx during my last wash. My goal is to simply extend the coating's life another 18-24 months, at which time the car may finally need a polishing. Yes, in an ideal world I would give the car a very light polishing now, but frankly I don't think the car needs it strictly speaking.

I emailed Optimum about the same thing and Ron responded saying a wipe down with Optimum paint prep would make it good to go.
Of course after a wash or ONR bath.

If it's still performing well then just decon wash it and continue going until you need to polish once again. You also have the option of using something like essence plus.

I am tempted to see how long it goes! I usually only have time to take my car to a place where I can detail it (not allowed in my condo building) once a year or so. That is the reason for refreshing the coating now instead of in six months or so.

I contemplated the same thing but decided on seeing what Essence Plus would do.
My Gloss Coat was 14 or so months and still pretty strong.

I would suggest if you're looking to add more coats, to wash, iron x. A super fine clay if you need it, then paint prep spray and reapply.
