First time paying for someone to detail my truck.

I have always taken great pride in making my truck look as good if not better than new. Well about a year ago I hurt my back and I am unable to even wash my truck anymore. Well I recently notice the rust bug decided to start showing its face. I guess I am lucky that an 8 year old truck that has never been inside has lasted this long in the Midwest. I am taking my truck to a real detailer for the first time. It is a regular cab truck. I have everything removed from in front of the seats. Should I remove everything from behind the seats? I have my straps, tarps, moving blankets,ect back there.

If you expect the detailer to clean back there, And you and the detailer both agreed on a package that cleans those specific areas. It is always wise to take your personal belongings out to make the detailers job easier. This also reduces risk of the detailer misplacing and losing your property.

If you want him to clean back there, yes. Otherwise he may decide not to touch it. Usually if the customer removes all items from an area that's the green light to make sure and get to work on it.. If you do remove your items from back there, make sure to mention it like "I went ahead and cleared everything from behind the seat for you" Then he'll have no reason not to clean back there.

I tell my clients if they want certain areas cleaned, like the glove box, center console, and in your case, behind the seat, to remove all items, otherwise they won't be touched.

Most detailers have interior packages other than a quick vacuum. If you are paying for an interior cleaning, than yes get your stuff out of the back.

Yes, on my VIF form I state that all personal belongings must be removed from the vehicle. If I have to take the time to do that, it's hours that add up... Much like the meter running on a taxi! :)

Thanks. I just dropped it off. I talked to the detailer and told him not worry about cleaning back there. He was surprisingly appreciative that I talked to him about it.
