Need Suggestion on Few Things

1. I'm having a DA polisher and some pads came along with it. Thinking to upgrade to some quality pads for paint correction.

Need your suggestions.

Experience Level: Beginner

Paint correction to be done on personal car and friends and family as of now.


2. How do you clean brown tires?

Like I'm having Meguiar's APC, used by diluting ratio 4:1 and also used full directly from the can but I'm unable to make my tire look black again. After 2 or 3 passes the foam is not turning brown, but the tire is still brown color.

Some pictures of the hood and other surfaces would be helpful. What type of DA polisher and pads do you have? Also, are you just looking for a full correction (no swirls) or some correction with increased gloss?

Tires "brown" naturally, cannot avoid it. 4:1 APC is good. Once you have as much off the surface then you treat the wheels with a dressing.

Also, are you just looking for a full correction (no swirls) or some correction with increased gloss?

Full correction on my cars. And one step correction on other friends/relatives cars.

Right now having UC, UP for compounding and polishing.

Planning to buy HD Speed for one step correction too.

1. HD Speed should be OK but I think you may need a 2-step for some panels such as the truck's hood and maybe some vertical panels - just a hunch based on the condition of the hood. HD Speed will do wonders on silver paint - no problemo there. I suspect the Chevy truck's paint will be hard so you may want to try HD Cut+

2. You will need more pads; hands down. 1-3 panels per pad minimum is what you will need. 2 Heavy Cut, 3 Cut and 4 Polishing and 3 Finishing pads is what I would recommend. You can make due with 6 but since you are a beginning then 12 will be around right.

3. My recommendation would be Menzerna or Wolfgang rather than 3D products, but stick with 3D nonetheless.

What is your detailing process end-to-end?

Tire blooming is the browning of the tires, and isn't dirt or grime. It's actually a compound in the rubber technically oxidizing. It's very common and can be cleaned pretty easily with most tire & wheel cleaners and a stiff tire & wheel brush. I like Meguiar's Hot Rims Wheel & Tire cleaner, but also really like using Westley's Bleche White on tires, too. It's also accelerated by the iron-x or Dubs-type color changing wheel cleaners, too.

Scrub it off as much as you can with tire cleaner, use a good tire dressing to keep it looking good longer, and clean the tires every time you wash the car.

What about the black car it is full oxidized.

Could you point exactly which pads from LC Pads or Buff and Shine. As there are so many types I'm confused on what to pick from where.

3D Speed I will keep as an AIO. But recommend from these Menzerna or Wolfgang, also taking price in consideration will these be good to purchase at this point.

Just got into paint correction process. Till now I only did full wash, interior and minor touch ups.

2x - Yellow Cutting Flat 5.5 inch Foam Pad

3x - Orange Light Cutting Flat 5.5 inch Foam Pad

4x - White Polishing Flat 5.5 inch Foam Pad

3x - Black Finishing Flat 5.5 inch Foam Pad
