First post and newbie so pls be gentle. :)
My wife got me a massive kit of cleaning/detail stuff as a gift.
I've read a huge amount and have a number of questions.
First off, here is a list of everything and then a list of the cars that I'll probably work on.
I'd really like to use/explore what I already have vs. buying more potions and lotions of the same 'type'
Griot’s 6” DA w/ 6” yellow plate
Blackfire Poly FINE Grade clay
Pinnacle Poly Ultra Fine clay
ONR (general and clay lube)
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze (apparently really a polish)
Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish
Lake Country 6.5” CCS pads: 3x white, 2x red, 1x blue
Buff-n-Shine 1x Green
Collinite 845
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant
Pinnacle leather conditioner
Trinova Leather Cleaner
Sonax Full Effect Tire/Wheel cleaner
Eagle One Tire/Wheel cleaner
OptiGel Tire dressing
Invisible Glass
Wolfgang vinyl/rubber protector
Meg APC
Griots Speed Shine
Griots Spray On Wax
CTI pad care
buckets, grit guards, mitts, MF towels
The cars in question …….. (hope to use the Avalon & Civic as practice cars before hitting the other 3)
Silver/gray Toyota Avalon - pretty bad shape, never more than car wash
Silver/gray Honda Civic - neglected but not terrible
Black Toyota RAV4 (88K) - scratches, never detailed
Pearl White Infiniti FX35 - reasonably good shape (110K), detailed last year
Lotus (FG/SMC) - excellent condition - tight curves (manual polish?)
SO, now, the questions……………...
BEST AIO? HD Speed vs. Poorboy PWS or something else?
5” flexible backing plate? Should I get one asap or just use the stock 6"
Get/Use manual applicators for tight curves
Can I use 6.5” LC pads w/ 5” plate?
What other pads should I get? orange? black? Different brand or texture (flat, hex, etcetc)
Do I need some special ‘dark’ polish for black RAV4?
Meg 105/205 combo for silver Avalon?
Do I need iron remover for rail dust?
What to do about light rust *stains* (from metal underneath) on Infiniti on panels and panel seams? Would this be a job for clay or polish or iron-x ??
