Best products to detail a 2017 Charger Daytona?

With so many different products available it's difficult for me being new to detailing to decide which products to use. I have a new 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona in Mango Orange. The seats are leather and swede. She looks great now and I want to keep it that way. Do I need to clay the new factory paint? When I apply way to the orange paint how do I keep the wax off the flat black decals?

Congrats on owning that awesome ride. I've seen plenty of brand new cars sitting on the dealer lot that need clayed, I've not seen or felt your car but the short answer is, it can't hurt it at all and if it were mine I probably would just to know I've got a good clean slate. If there isn't much contaminates on it, it won't be much of a task anyway and it will get your eyes and hands on literally every inch of her for a good inspection. Once your done, you can lay on a nice wax, or personally I would lay on a nice sealant as it will last longer and you can add some wax on top from time to time after washing for a little extra depth of shine. There's a ton of great reading to be had for you hear if your new, but remember keep it simple, there's really no need to overthink a lot of things when your starting with a new finish. Be very gentle on the paint washing and drying with good quality microfiber products and keep it clean and you should be happy for a long time. A good leather cleaner and conditioner in one every now and then will be fine on your new seats, a little goes a long way on everything.

I didn't go into naming products because that debate could go on for several pages worth of opinions. Pretty much anything you see being liked and AG sells is going to be good.

Hey man, nice ride! I had the pleasure of taking care of a new mango cat last week. I did clay it, as I clay all my details. I followed up with menz 2500 with a white hybrid pad. I coated it after with IGL Kenzo. Turned out beautiful. I did my own cat with the same combo and a SCAT pack as well.

Parttimer, Gotta love those mopars! Look great. How do you handle working around the flat black decals? I would think getting wax or sealer on them would be not a good thing.

Does the owners manual address care of the decals? Just wondering. If they are not matte, then a wax or sealant would not hurt them.

Hey Mountaindog!

There are alot of great products to choose from, I recently used McKee's 37 360 on this Octane Red Dodge Charger, This car was heavily contaminated, With your bare touch it sounded like you were rubbing sandpaper. (Brand New Car) This gave the paint a overall haze in the paint. It did not have the crystal clear shine a new car should. 360 Restored the gloss to a better than new shine and left behind durable long lasting protection. 360 provides 6 months + of protection.

If your Charger does not have any light swirls and the paint is already flawless, I would go with McKee's 37 Hi-Def Paint Sealant. It is one of the newest Paint Sealants to come out on the market and that means it utilizes all the newest polymer technology. Super easy on and off and it can leave your paint protected up to a year.

When it comes to the matte stripes, tape them off with painters tape and make sure, very, super sure not to hit them with a polisher. Once they shine, they shine forever! I coat them with IGL Kenzo as it doesn't make them shine, it does alter the look a little but it makes them deeper. There are several matte coating products on the market, Mckees, Dr. Beasley and Chemical Guys to name a few. The Hellcat didn't have matte but the SCAT did. I will see if I have any afters of the rear. I don't think I do, but, I'll look!
Edit, do not use a wax or sealant on them, it may add shine. I believe the manual uses the old just mild soap and water for cleaning. I don't think it covers protection.

Somehow I knew you were going to say mask out the stripes with tape. All fine and well for the stripes but on the hood is "HEMI" and on the rear fenders is the word "DAYTONA" with the paint showing through. Masking around then would be a royal pain.

As a precaution take some tape and pull the tape from the roll and rub some of the adhesive on your leg or pat it against your chest.Then rip off that piece and apply to your stripes lightly. Or just stay away from it all together.

Mckees flat matte cleaner and protection 14.00.just bought a camaro draped with flat graphics hood roof trunk and bumpers.

Apply after every wash and avoid putting soap on those areas.
