View Full Version : Product to use to remove compound/polish

Did my first attempt at paint correction (just the hood) and I failed to cover the windshield wipers. Got some compound/polish on them. What would be a good
product to use to remove the white. :thankyousign:

The best bet is water after you do a panel.

You would be surprised how good it removes polishing residue if it is fresh.

Once it has dried well multiple products to try.

What I do is after a panel I wipe with cloth then hose off (if possible) and no problems.

Water will require less cleanup than any cleaner and it is virtually free.

Try to remove asap. The sooner the better.

Any waterless wash diluted at a higher strength will clean the panel from the Polish and prep it for a coating and remove any trace polish residue

Meguiar's D114 and McKee's N914 work well to remove compound and polish residue. I use both at 1:128 and it doesn't take much - oftentimes a quick spritz is aid enough to remove residual product. ONR at 1:128 works too, but it lacks the sort of "bite" produced by the other options.

Spray way glass cleaner foam.Spray or drench then toothbrush all the compound out.Or a pressure washer with a low psi.
