Waterless wash from Armor All

I picked this up today and thought I'd give it a shot.

About once a month, I'm at work for a full weekend that has no covered parking. My car (2016 Corvette) is not a garage queen, but rather a daily driver that gets to stay in the garage. Between some rain and 35 mile highway drive (plus a week + since last wash) the Vette (black btw) had a fair amount of grime and bugs on it. This worked pretty well.

Picked up all the grime and bugs with little pressure and left a nice smooth slick surface. Did not appear to impart any damage. I would say it worked as well as the Meguiars Ultimate waterless wash and wax anywhere that I've used. $7 for a can at Walmart and took me about 1/2 can and 20 minutes to do the entire car.

So for $3.50, I think I found a nice way to wash and detail the car when I'm away for the weekend or on trips.

Anyone else use this or have any experience?

Is that an aerosol can version!?!?
That's scary... throw it in the trash can before you scratch your paint.

I do a waterless wash, but use Meguiars/ONR and liberally spray my panels down until it is almost soaking wet then wipe.
If too dirty for waterless, use rinseless method.
If too dirty for rinseless, use traditional 2-bucket method with heavy pre-soak with hose/power washer.

If you keep your car clean regularly... should only need to use waterless every 1-2 weeks.

Guess I didn't realize there was so much hate for Armor All. I've been a recent convert to rinseless/waterless washing and have started using ONR. Huge fan now. I've also liked the Meguiars ultimate waterless wash and wax. Figured I'd experiment with other stuff, because who knows you may just find something that works for you. Yes, it is an aerosol and I was a little skeptical, but it actually applies the wash rather nicely and like I said, it provides a cleaning experience that I can equate to using Meguiars waterless (OTC). Let me put the disclaimer in that this is a daily driver for me, not a show car or garage queen. Additionally, I am a married father of 6, so time is of a premium. Because of that, I have gained a lot of info from this site and others and like I said have became a huge fan of Rinseless/Waterless washes because of their convenience. I've also realized that routine maintenance makes it easier to maintain, which is why I figured I'd give this product a shot as something to help minimize grime build up when I can't keep the car out of the elements. Thanks for the replies and the help. I'm always looking to learn.

As for $7 per can, $3.50 per application, that's exspenive per in use cost, guess that's why you can afford a Vette...............Im the MAN:wow:

Just kidding wth you, but their are many better alternatives out there.

And you can't possibly put enough lubrication down out of that little can to prevent marring and scratching of the paint, especially black paint.

Go with a dilutable ww concentrate. You'll be better off in the long run.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was actually looking at getting some of the Meguiars D-115 to do the same thing. How does that compare with the McKee's in performance and price when mixed as a waterless?

As far as cost, while I could technically afford to continue to use the OTC products, why would I? I mean, I still have to pay for that Vette (and feed the kids [emoji23]).

I was going to say try to seek out D114, but that is no longer being produced.
D115 is okay... it's 1:4 ratio, so can only get 5 gallons out of it.

Compare it to McKees N914, it is pretty much exactly the same thing as D114.
Both supposed to be 1:128 for waterless wash... I think Wax stripping was 1:8?

Do keep in mind, D115 has WAX in it, so you cannot use it as a correction/paint prep like D114 was.

D115 and N-914 do the same thing as you can use them both as a waterless wash, but N-914 does not leave protection behind.

N-915 is also much more cost effective and may have more uses. Although D115 could probably be used for the same tasks, it would require using it at even lower dilution ratios.

I'm starting to think about giving ONR Wash & Wax a try. I imagine it could also be used as detail spray or waterless wash in an cost effective ratio.

This is some good stuff too, I have it mixed up and grab it between using other ww's.

I think most guys here pair their waterless/rinseless wash with whatever lsp they have and keep it in the family. Your best choice is dependant on what you have on the paint quite frankly, pinnacle waterless would be great if you use a traditional wax.

The most cost effective ones are measured in how many cents per wash, not dollars.

For one's own vehicle, I would think the overriding factor would be quality of product - especially when your purchasing concentrates by the gallon. There's just not that high of a cost even for the more expensive washes when calculated on a per wash basis.

As far as ONR, I prefer the regular over the ONRWW. I would use the clay rag with Optimum spray wax as per The Rag Companies video if I wanted the wax protection.

Bought it last week nto a bad product.I like the simplicity of it in a aerosol.
