I am looking to get a brush attachment for my DA in order to make both tire cleaning and carpet cleaning easier. I was looking at the Cyclo brushes because Mike shows that they are compatible. In his thread he shows scrubbing tires with the black brush.

What would be the better dual purpose brushes? The black or white for doing both carpets and tires. My main fear is the black being to stiff and coarse and destroying the carpet.

Thanks in advance.

I would not use the same brush for carpet that I use for tires...if I am reading correctly what you're asking. I think that the black stain from the tires would rub off on your carpet. I would get the white for carpet and the black for tires. I have separate brushes for carpets and tires. I actually keep several carpet brushes due to the fact that some dyed colors come off onto the brush and I would not want it rubbing onto a different color interior and staining it.

The brushes come in 2 packs so I was hoping I would be able to kill 2 birds with one stone. But seems like I might need to just get both.

You can also buy them individually if you want.

Dual Action Orbital Polishers and pads: Porter Cable 7424 : Porter Cable 7424XP: Lake Country Buffing Foam Pads (http://www.autogeek.net/dual-action-polishers.html)

Porter Cable 7424 Carpet & Upholstery Brushes (http://www.autogeek.net/porter-cable-brushes.html)

I'm not sure if one would work well for both tasks.

I've never had any problems with dirt, or gunk, from tires on my hand held brushes. They always rinse clean for me and I use the same brush for interiors and tires.

I would say I myself definitely would not use the black on carpet as it is meant for harder surfaces. The white may do both...I know they do great on carpet but never tried them on tires. You can always start with a pack of white and later buy black if they're not working out on the tires for ya.
