i bought the car like this but.... what is that thing? Is this clearcoat failure? I always assumed it was a spot the previous owner burnt through by accident... I've had the car for four months and this hasn't spread at all. I wax it usually every month...

What is it? If it's clearcoat failure, what can I do??? :(:(

EDIT: I'm talking about the little haze area right next to the windshield wiper.

There's another similar spot above it. Not a typical cc failure, but more like an etching. Have you tried a light compound?

No I haven't because I'm scared shitless to touch it LOL... Everyone is saying clearcoat failure, but with clearcoat failure wouldn't you feel the paint? Or wouldn't it come off on an applicator pad?

Could it maybe be something like this? Surface Imperfections ? DetailingSpot (http://www.detailingspot.com/?page_id=224)

Any ideas? I can actually feel it. It hasn't grown any bigger in the 4 months I've had it. No paint comes off it when touched

It looks like picture b (bird etching) in your link, but not like the last picture, which is a typical clear coat failure.

Can you contact an experienced detailer in your area and get his opinion? If he has a paint gauge and the numbers are safe, a compound or wet sanding may be in order, providing it is not clear coat failure.

That's what it looks like to me. Did he try to remove it?
