I live in an apartment so I usually drive to a coin-operated self wash to clean the wheels. I bought some Sonax but didn't read the directions until I received the product. So today I tried to spray some Powerclean on them but it dried up pretty fast and so I wasn't able to effectively remove the dirt with a brush. The directions say to not use on surfaces greater than 120 degrees. My wheels felt warm but not hot. So now i'm looking for any alternatives that doesn't require a cool surface.

Just cool the wheels down with water before using. You should power wash the wheels before applying products to them anyway. Pressure washers will remove most of the grit and grime so that your product can deal with what is left. By the time you have power rinsed all four wheels, the first one should be cool enough to use the product without any issue.

You might also consider getting a Kwazar foaming hand pump sprayer and putting one of the stronger car washes in it. I use mine with P21s Total Auto Wash @ 20:1 dilution. It foams well and never had a problem with heat in SoCal.
