Did a Lexus GS 350 using a blue pad and a small bitty 8 oz bottle of Zephir (coarse) .
When I was finished---Used up more than 3/4 bottle! That is just using 3 pea size per panel! I don't have any more
for the next project! Does it take that much product to compound a car? It seems like a lot!

Sounds about right. I want to say that I go through about four ounces or so with the compound. I'm mostly using it with the use microfiber pad though. I use about a quarter bottle of Keramik polish.

I can't speak to the Rupes polishes but I've never used anywhere near that much when using Menzerna, Wolfgang, or HD Polishes for a sedan. The other thing that really concerned me about your recent polishing adventure was all the dusting you said you were getting. Without actually being there to watch you use the machine I'd have to guess too much heat developed from running the machine to fast (6 if I recall your post) which dried out the polish which loaded up the pad which cut down on the effectivness of the polish.

The only time I had an issue with dusting when I was first learning was with a PC DA and Menzerna, and it was mainly due to the fact it was the middle of July in an ventilated garage in Florida, I was dusted after that job too :buffing:

Keep at it, you'll get it. :props:

dlc and custmsprty---Thanks, feedback was very helpful. Gives me a reasonable idea of what to expect.

I agree on the speed. Was way too fast. Found this all out after the fact. A lesson which will never be forgotten!

I must suck! Grin. Started around 10 this morning and just finished compounding a
Black 2014 Lexus GS around 11 pm.
Cleaned wheels using Sonax wheel cleaner and tuf shine for tires.
Washed, treated with McKee iron remover and clayed the car.
Using the Rupes system--just completed the compounding step.
Tomorrow will polish and then seal with Rupes P808 sealant.

I'm beat and hurting!! Grin.

Have couple questions here---
It took almost entire 16 oz bottle of iron remover and car wasn't that saturated. Is this about right? !6 oz for large car?
I'm almost out of compound. Just about used up all 8 oz bottle of product! Used 3 pea size per section. Is this about right?

I thought we went over this before? :dunno:

Not really...

This is the first real meaningful feedback. I now know for a fact just what it will take to do the job.

2 maybe 3oz. 4oz. max.

That seems like a ton of product. I never have to use that much. Much of it depends on how oxidized or scratched up the finish is. Less is more. Phil

Don't forget---This is a really small bottle. Only 8 oz.
3 pea size per section.
Every other section---brushed pads

I even cheated a bit---made some sections larger than the recommended section size hoping against wisdom, that I was stretching out product more.
And this is after about 12 hours of compounding straight through.

If it makes you feel any better, I used a whole 16oz. bottle of Ultimate Compound the very 1st time I attempted any of this stuff on my own car way back when... I was a complete noob and working by hand. :)

Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish, lsp. All by hand with every bit of elbow grease I had in me... Took me 4.5 days and I nearly passed out when I was done. And I still didn't get all the swirls out [I was such a noob I hadn't fully figured out how to spot them all] lol.

does it works well?

Yes.
Even tho I "used" it on the wrong type of paint. (soft)

Others need to chime in because I don't have the experience to compare Rupes polishes against other polishes.

My car does have an extremely "Jeweled" look right now!
