My girlfriend bought a new 2016 chevy cruze rs red in color I've kept the paint fairly scratch free but today I hand washed it for the first time in awhile and all I can see is the webbing type of scratches Oh and a nicely sized scratch in the hood. Along with some paint chips. I have a griots garage 6" polisher and some lake country pads along with the griots line of boss polishes. I've got little to no experience with polsihing.
My steps are:
1.wash
2.clay
3.start with the boss correcting cream with an orange lake country pads
4.use boss finishing with a green pad.
5.finish with a wax.
Plan on addressing the paint chips when the weather is better.
Any useful info would be great before I go ahead with doing it.

Your steps look pretty good to me. I am assuming the green pad is similar to the Lake Country White Pad. Just curious, what DA are you using? If there is 1 thing I can tell you and IMO it is the best advice....take your time and have fun!

Being that the vehicle is fairly new, you could try starting out with the finishing pads, and polishes first and see where that gets you?

Better to do too little than too much. And as most all would advise, try the "test spot" first on the worst areas, which sounds to me like the hood as you mentioned, and see what results you get?

Possible that the hood may need further correcting processes, but that won't necessarily mean the remainder of the vehicle does as well.

As for Paint Chips, do investigate the Doctor Colorchip system sold here. Quite easy to use, fast, and almost foolproof to get very good results.

I'm new as well and about to tackle the same project with my own new car. One thing I'd recommend is throwing some Iron X in the steps before you clay.

Okay I have iron x ordered. Should I wash after using iron x or just rinse?

I would wash after ironx to get all residue off before clay
