I was using the turtle wax black box on my new black motorcycle. I was using the detail spray to clean off the area. Will using that spray on other items that are not black leave a black residue dye behind. Or will it be ok to wipe those areas down just as I would regular detailer. What about the other products in the box? I just don't want to stain any other parts of the motorcycle if it has dye in it or something. Please help thanks.

I'm not 100% sure which one[s] but I've heard that either the detail spray and or the spray wax contains black dye. I wouldn't chance it. What do the directions say??

I used it, It's the black carnuba wax that has the dye, thats why i didnt like it, the only thing in the box worth anything is the pre wax cleaner. To the op, get some gold class spray wax and quick detailer for your bike you will like them much better

Weren't you able to find any recommendations on Turtle Waxes online forum dedicated to the support of their products?:laughing::laughing:

I agree. You notice you get two Jet Black spray detailers instead of one detailer and one spray wax. That's because the black wax is so difficult to wipe the residuals cleanly from the paint, it basically requires the spray detailer to supplement removal. I heard of this in some of the reviews I found and those comments are spot on, the black test car that I tried the kit on the wax was an absolute nightmare removing cleanly from the polished surface by itself.

If you must use anything from the box, I'd keep it away from anything that is not a polished surface. But below I did a test of the porcelain toilet top to see what would happen if you apply it over a white surface. The interesting thing is if you have any sort of contamination on the surface that doesn't wipe clean after a wipedown, the cleanser and the wax will highlight those contaminants on white. So on paint I can imagine if you need to clay the surface and for some crazy reason you wanted to test these out on top, you'd see a pretty nasty looking surface as the black latches onto those embedded contaminants. Otherwise, the end result of the cleanser and the wax shown through the tape line shows no distinct darkening effect on the white porcelain surface:

Initial spread, as you work it into the surface it starts to go pretty clear:

Wax buffed off:

Tape removed and edge line wiped down:

Only difference I see is highlighted small contaminants(camera doesn't pick them up):

Spray detailer:

Not sure how they allowed the wax to pass the testing phase.

I had a black car some years ago. I bought the "Black Box" and some OTC micro fibers. It was a mess. Then I started studying at AG University. The "Black Box" was the first thing in the trash. Kept those micro fibers for oil changes!
