When I did a routine wash for a client last week, I was asked if I could detail her daughter's car. She was coming home for the holidays and wanted it done before heading back to school. I gave her a price.......without seeing the car. We know how that always ends up!

Here's the story.......

Befores:
Pretty much a mess. Dog hair and plenty of stains on the inside. The paint was so scratched and damaged. Pretty much a repaint on the passenger side. I quickly called the customers since they were gone for the day. They told that they were going to trade it in on Saturday and just to do my best. Knowing this now, I set out with a plan.

Wash Cycle:
(NXT and Purple Power Mix)
Once again, I sprayed the entire vehicle with the foam gun and my strong cleaning mix. I then let it sit for 5 minutes. I rinsed and repeated this time washing it with LC's Ulti-Mitt. Here are some close ups of the scratches and damage that this process uncovered.

Paint Correction:
(Menzerna's Power Gloss via UDM and LC's Orange Polishing Pad)
Sounds aggressive huh? It did to me too!!! What did I have to loose? The paint was trashed and there were scratches that only wet sanding might take out. So here goes a test area. The trunk aka rear deck lid for you UK'ers!

I simply worked Power Gloss for a long time with lots of passed to insure it broke down. Use a speed of 6 with only medium pressure. I have noticed that with the UDM and CCS pads, a lot of pressure is not need for the results.

Not a complete correction but man. what a difference! This was also with a strong but dependable compound. I've heard you can get it to come out LSP ready but it takes time. It did remove all swirls (not scratches) without any marring. Once again, make sure it breaks all the way down.

Paint Protection:
(Magic 845-75% Collinite 845 & 25% Product X via UDM & LC's Red Finishing Pad)
Yep. You read right on that mix. Good friend and expert detailer Bradley aka shadybreal concocted this mix and has been using it for over a month now with awesome results. Product X has glazing abilities and well, 845 is as hard as a force shield when dried. He has experienced 4+ weeks of durability. I put it on thin and let dry for 20 minutes. Looks pretty good.

Interior:
A mix of Folex and Purple Power was used to treat the carpets before extracting. I used Purple Power 10:1 to clean the leather. It was then treated with Pinnacle's Leather Conditioner. The dash and door's were treated with DP's Interior Protectant. Glass was done with my last drops of Surf City's Glass cleaner. The tires and and engine bay got a coating of Stoner's More shine less time.......it's on sale now for 2.98 at Advanced Auto!!!

Not to bad for a wash and waxer that doesn't remove swirls, just fills em' :) << J/K

Awesome job Justin, and I'm currently testing the Magic-845 and it is working out great.

I had the same customer come to me with a Green Expedition pretty nasty and all I tackled it luckily with 106 and liquid souveran. Looks like I'm going to be adding powergloss to my polishing bag of products.

Still amazing. I'm guessing that they change their mind on trading it since it looks so much better. Let us know if you find out. If they do trade it you made them a few extra bucks for sure.

I actually just got a text message from her mom thanking me and wishing me a happy Thanksgiving. They are now going to keep it!!! Seems that everyone thinks its a new car and that she traded it in.

Best compliment I could ever get!

Man that thing turned out really good. I need to get some power gloss from you. I'll have my Flex next week and I'm sure PG would be really good w/ it. Great work as usual.

Great Turnaround; It amazes me how bad people let their cars get. Did you finish with another polish or did you go to your LSP after powergloss?

Looks good! But you should go over with PO 106FF after using PG and a LC orange light cutting pad. I bet its alot of holograms in the sun! Car came out great!

Looks amazing! Hope to get there soon one day lol. Wish we could have met before I left GA to get some tips from you (used to live in Kennesaw). I also miss the Mtn. roads up there and in Dahelonga :D

I'm sure he wouldn't have wasted time putting the LSP on if it were hologramed.... Good call though :D

What do you mean about good call? I was just recommending it, and that it could be holograms. But I forgot he uses a UDM.

It would be a good call to finish up with 106 and a white pad if done by rotary, but yes using the udm probably decreased his chances in hologramming the finish. Thats all I was aiming after.
