Looking at picking up some Collinite 840. It states on the bottle not for Dark Clear Coats. What is considered a dark clear coat??? Thanks.

•Dark CCs?
-I've run across some tinted CCs
that'll leave some "kinda dark"
buffing residue on the pads.

•Collinite also talks about/describes
Light-colored clear coat paints as being:
White and Silver.
-I've really never noticed silver buffing
residue before.

•When it comes to "paint colors":
-I'll wager they are talking about the
BC (color coat) of a BC/CC paint system.

•If still unsure:
-Give them a call
-Don't use it

I wouldn't use that product...as much as I love some Collinite products, their abrasive products are old school from before clearcoats. If you wanted to use 840 on single-stage or gelcoat or something like that, go ahead, but there's a dozen other products...maybe 2 dozen, that I'd use before 840.

Oh wait--it says this right on the AG product page: "*Note: Collinite Liquid Sapphire PreWax Cleaner #840 is formulated for single stage, enamel, and lacquer paint finishes. For clear coat paint, use Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion."

Yes skip the 840, I have it and use it on old single stage white paint, but that's about it. I've since moved on to Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing lotion and its great.
