How Mike Phillips Competition Ready Detailing Class has changed my life in so many ways (http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/information-competition-ready-3-day-detailing-classes-mike-phillips/108106-how-mike-phillips-competition-ready-detailing-class-has-changed-my-life-so-many-ways.html)

Hello forum members! I am posting this long overdue, brief write up to simply share with you how I have greatly benefited from the 3-day class and how you can also positively improve your love for detailing in so many aspects.

First off I live in central New Jersey and prior to taking Mike’s class I have been a self-taught professional and full time mobile detailer as well as a Corvette Specialist for over 12 years previously.

I had developed a great reputation for myself but what I learned and applied from my 3 days with Mike has set me on a much more successful path!

No matter if you are an auto enthusiast or detail as a carrier there is an unbelievable amount of improvement in your skill set Mike can offer you. He provides all the knowledge you need to be at the top of your game and working on the cars he provides is intense!

Hands on with some amazing Hot rods and muscles cars! Listening to in-depth explanations and working on topics like understanding paint systems, abrasive technology, and even proper tool care.

The Autogeek facility is top notch!

Every tool and chemical you could ever want is there for you to experience first hand. Mike is the master of machine polishing so whether you have never picked up a machine or you are already performing paint corrections on high dollar rides as I was there is so many tips and tricks you will learn and benefit from.

Never sanded defects out of paint??? You will learn and not at the expense of your own vehicle or even worse your client’s vehicle.

Never had the chance to use an extractors and steam cleaner??? These are an expensive investment but can get your major results! Here is your chance to learn how to use them properly and understand why these tools are such great investments.

Let me also say before I get to far why this class was not only the best investment I ever made but how the cost is so minimal for what you will receive.

Trust me when I say I understand money can be tight, and as a matter of fact my fiancé purchased my class for me as a gift even with having a 9-year-old, disabled 1 year old, and super tight finances. She knew how Mike had been an extreme inspiration to me for many years as I have watched every video he has ever recorded (twice) and read all his books.

I do all aspects of higher end detailing but consider myself a paint correction artist and a perfect fit for his boot camp. I already foreseen the value in many ways but what I received out of his class was more then I really could have ever imagined. I found a great group of guys who all shared the same passion and enthusiasm for auto detailing.

After being involved in detailing for over 6 years I had yet to ever meet anyone I could have an educated conversation with. Now here I was in a room filled with people embracing one another and creating wonderful new friendships. The Autogeek staff took great care of us from coffee and donuts to wonderful catered lunches!

Honestly justifying the expense with the amazing experience in the class was simple but let me explain just how effective your education and understand your skill value in the industry can be. Understanding how to utilize the finest quality abrasives, proper pad selection per tool and the finest techniques will allow you to deliver show quality results.

If you are not making big bucks detailing cars, then you are not going about it properly. Mikes class walks you through how to work methodically, effectively and make you more money!

I extremely blessed to wake up every day as a one-man detailing operation and work on the most amazing classic cars, hot rods, and sports cars but the EDUCATION is what has earned me the opportunity to care for amazing multimillion dollar private collections.

I honestly could not have ever imagined this a few years back. With this education and credibility, you can be well paid for your talents and passion. A vehicle I highly specialize in is a Corvette, but being there a dime a dozen it makes for a prime example of a realistic detail you can be paid well for your efforts on.

How does $75-150 per hour detailing sound?

A proper wash, decontamination, all in one polish, 3 hours or so, $350.00-$450.00. Easy!

Having the ability to restore paint properly to the highest of standards allows me charge $100-150per hour for paint correction, wet sanding and coatings. That is fun money!

You can’t complain when you wake up, drive to a client’s house to perform a detail,1 step polish & apply a coating and leave with a $1000.00-$1200.00!!

I literally paid for the class in a couple good days of work!!

I am by no means bragging when write this but want everyone that is doing $125.00 details for 8 hours realize you are selling yourself short. I was that guy once! Besides selling myself short by not having the know how Mike supplied me with I was over achieving on my results and over delivering to my customers. This class pays for itself in so many ways! Literally!

Understand how to use today’s technology properly will get you much better results and the 3-day class give you that up close, in your hands experience and priceless education.

There are many years I have spent not working as smart as I could have been also. In taking this class it helped me to understanding how to,

Keep It Simple Simon

Not over complicating the task at hand. Having the education to save time by picking the proper tool and procedure to achieve the desired results faster.

CREDIBILITY is what you earn in Mikes class and on multiple occasions I have had clients ask about references. I have pull out Mikes business card with zero hesitation to let them call him but in all instances, they are already aware I am serious and say that will not be necessary.

Receiving a chance for Special Opportunities is also a bonus! Being an Alumni student I was given the opportunity to be selected as a team member on the first series of Competition Ready on Velocity Channel!

Preparing an amazing 1940 Ford Oprah Coupe built by Tim O’Connell himself to compete in the Legend Cup. Not to mention we Won 4 top Prizes in the process!

Being granted the opportunity to travel from New Jersey to Chicago and film the TV show led to meeting a whole new set of amazing detailers, and new friends! I even got the opportunity to sit down with Bob McKee, Mike Phillips, Bruno Massel and 2 of my close friends from the 3-day class Jared and Mike over a couple of drinks one night. It was a real honor to be sitting at that table!

One of the most amazing experiences of my life and worthy of an extremely long write up that I will post following this one. Just remember that detailing is already on its way to being a highly professional, respected industry, that commands top payment for top results. I have joined the IDA and am now a Certified Operator and Detailer. I will soon be taking my hands-on Skills validation at the next opportunity I can conveniently entertain.

This also is another great reason to get in the class and have the experience to take the exams and become a respected IDA Certified detailer and Skills Validated Detailer.

I couldn’t be more proud of my industry and Autogeek has given me a nice wide angle view of what great achievements are possible when you put in the effort and hard work.

I want to thank Mike Phillips for putting together such a fun, well rounded class providing such a comprehensive education and for having me on the show. I am super proud to say I attended this class and have kept in touch with some great detailers that I hope to see at this year’s Detail Fest.

There is so many reasons the 3-day class could be the best investment you ever made in pursuing your passion. Don’t let your education hold you back any longer. Get Competition Ready today!

Pete,
Wow...!
As a recent participant in the February class a couple of weeks ago, reading your article is so spot on! That is so well spoken and so well written! It feels like I am back in class! Thank you for doing this. Right now I am still sorting out all the information that I've received from the class and reading your article helps me with the process. The 3 day class is packed with 5 days worth of information easy.

This should be called the Competition Ready Detailing University!

I am bookmarking this article for my personal use to review and to refresh the key points and concepts that were taught in class.
