Is there such a thing as too cold to compound and polish a car?

Yes there is. Generally, if it's under 50 degrees ambient, I won't bother. Compounds and polishes don't seem to play well at anything less than that. Keep in mind that the surface of the car itself is usually colder than ambient temperature as well.
