My dad passed down his corvette to me this past weekend. It has some oxidation and scratches on the hood that looks like someone tried to sand or something. Does this look like something that can use paint correction to fix or does it look like wet sanding?

Only one way to find out! Start light, and get more aggressive if you need to

Concur. There' clear coat failure there. What year is it?

I'd suggest getting it painted. Not sure if it can be sanded/prepped and wrapped even.

It's clear coat failure and the definitive fix is to get it repainted.

*BUT*

If I were you, and since it needs to be repaired anyway, I would use those panels to practice technique. You may very well be able to wet sand away the points of failure so it "blends" in to the rest of the paint. Then compound and polish. You can't make the panel any worse, that's how I look at it. If you've never done any type of wet sanding or paint correction, this can be the perfect opportunity to test the waters and see how paint reacts to what you do to it. It won't hurt that badly if you screw something up and it will definitely be a learning experience!

Thanks all... Its a 95 and my plan was already to repaint, but until then I'm trying to keep
It clean. I'm definitely going to is the hood as a learning experience.
